Patient Ambassadors are very important to the health center. The Patient Ambassador (PA) is often the first person a patient may interact with over the phone or upon arriving at the health center. Therefore, the position is integral to shaping the patients’ first impression of the health center, which could shape the patient-provider relationship for the long-term. Within this role, it is critical that the PA be courteous, accurate with verbal and written communication as well as with information entered into the electronic medical records system. Because the PA has responsibilities for scheduling patients, they have an important responsibility in helping to achieve productivity goals for the health center meeting and maintaining Patient Centered Medical Home certification.
The PA is responsible for maintaining patient demographics and insurance records. They perform duties associated with patient in preparing them to have a successful interaction with the Health Center. They answer preliminary non-medical questions for patients. The PA organizes the facility’s calendars and is the liaison between medical professionals and patients. Additional job responsibilities include answering phones, locating and organizing patient records, and working collaboratively with all departments within the Health Center. This position is authorized to work in any location recognized as within the scope of HCHC by HRSA.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to organize patient information, handle multiple tasks concurrently, possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with patients and health center staff.
