ABOUT THE CENTER In 2006, several community partners joined the Healthy Community Council to conduct a needs assessment. The results of the Healthy Community Council Report showed that significant challenges in accessing health care in the area existed. In 2007, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration designated Harrisonburg, Virginia as having a Medically Underserved Population. From that designation an action committee formed and successfully created the Harrisonburg Community Health Center. The Harrisonburg Community Health Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 federally qualified health center. The Community Health Center receives an annual grant from the federal government in order to create a universal access medical facility. The Harrisonburg Community Health Center brings together an exceptional team of Healthcare Providers, a responsive and helpful Administrative Staff and a supportive Board of Directors to fulfill our mission of providing comprehensive primary care health services to anyone in the community regardless of their financial situation. In 2009, our team at the Community Health Center served 2,998 patients with 9,025 visits. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Harrisonburg Community Health Center.
